DEA VOLUME SEVEN: Sweet Abundanza
Whut?

Whew! Didn't think we would make it this far but, since we have, we are making the best of it before the "cliff" that is 2009. Will DEA float up on angels wings into a ambrosia like psychedelic future they so hope to experience? or will they fall into the inevitable abyss of debts that may be awaiting us all after years of living in an aggressive nation that has mortgaged it's future to the arms/oil industry and foreign governments, particularly the Chinese and Saudis'.

Dipping into our past unrecorded catalog we have found many nuggets too intense for earlier sessions or lost in between member shifts. Bruno Ravioli is spearheading the neo DEA movement and hopes to see us in the studio before the S hits the F in December 08. His ferocious dedication to capturing the ancient passion of this seminal SI band has brought him to Staten Island's own Abercrombe studios where he intends to track the, now 5, members of DEA doing what they feel most comfortable doing.

Happy kept low key during 2006-7 and worked with Jackie Luv and Mikey Fibbonacci to create truly innovative artwork triptych's together. Working at R. Baker's studio, the trio of artists have started creating some of the most avant latex paintings ever set to fiber board.

Rasputin Ovultine had spent a good period of time creating his own studio in the basement of his mansion in order to exorcise the constant encroachment of demons he so regularly wards off. Both an art studio and jam den, Rasputin's studio spills out to a bedecked outdoor area with pool and his very own sculptural additions and floral designs. He is also now back in touch with his cohorts from the 22 Toxic Chemicals, Frosted Egg The Zero and Nasferatu, both of whom have built a recording studio in NJ to accommodate their latest project, Ockham's Razor, which will most likely see Rasputin once again taking center stage with mic in hand as he did so many time back in the 80's at CBGB's with The Chemicals.

Alouishondor, ever the scamp, has been donating his many skills to PoolHouse Studios and Vidrock.com,two ventures set up by DEA founding member Bill W. The music video site, Vidrock.com, promotes new bands to the industry. Shondor is the whizz behind all the sound heard at the Vidrock site and is often known to give his well earned deep musical incite to many of the young acts that are lucky enough to get featured at Vidrock and have the foresight to realize just who they are working with.

And talk about luck! DEA has been able to abscond with WoofWoof guitar maven, Antwon Sparkles, at least until Whale demands he returns to the fold. So now the boys have a new friend and member to steer them into areas they never even knew existed. 'Twon is master of the Floyd Rose and though recruited by members of The NY Dolls, Heartbreakers and the Dead Boys, back in the day, he is actually a progressive musician at heart and brings King Crimson and Joe Narduli influences to the DEA pantheon by way of his vast knowledge of a wide array of styles.

So things ain't so bad right now in March of 2008 for our intrepid bandmates. On to the HangDown this Summer and hope, by Xmas, to be seeing new DEA CDs in eveyone's stocking.
